Strategy
Our Wholesale strategy focuses on improving our competitive position by being a low cost-to-serve supplier of crop nutrients, attracting and retaining the right employees, providing superior customer service and maintaining the environmental health, safety and security of our employees and the communities in which we operate.
Our strategy has three core focus areas:
- Base business improvement - Optimization and incremental expansions of existing facilities and distribution assets;
- Value-added growth and global diversification - Building new greenfield facilities and acquiring manufacturing and distribution businesses;
- Growing Together - Enhancing our positive culture to support the attraction and, retention and commitment of employees.
We believe that there is value and leverage in being a producer of all three major nutrients. We also believe a global approach is required to optimize and diversify our portfolio. At the same time, we will seek to build on the efficiencies of our manufacturing hub advantage. For Nitrogen, we will utilize a portfolio approach to diversify our sources of natural gas supply. For Phosphate, we are focused on growing the business through the acquisition of world-class, low-cost integrated assets. For Potash, we will leverage our extensive ore reserve base to grow our production capacity in Western Canada.
To link Agrium Wholesale more closely to our customers, ongoing investment in our distribution network is a key component of our strategy. Strong distribution capabilities help maintain market access and competitive cost position to supply our customers.
